COACHES ASSOCIATION Kent
Hockey Association has for a number of years wanted to set up a
Coaching Association for the benefit of coaches working in Kent. Among
other things this would help to provide the courses required by
coaches in the County and to set up a procedure for the completion of
CRBs. The
EH Single System has made such an Association essential.
To ensure that this System works for the benefit of young players in
Kent we need to know how many coaches we have, active and not active,
qualified and unqualified, in the County, and how many wish to become
involved in coaching in this initiative, which will provide an
excellent platform for those wanting to develop a ‘career’ pathway
in hockey coaching. The Coaching Association will also provide an
excellent system for our young players to thrive in, give easy access
for dealing with the paperwork to gain CRB clearance and help in
gaining qualifications by making courses available to our members.
Some of you may be happy to continue coaching purely in your clubs and some may wish to become actively involved with the new System. Whichever, I hope that you will join our newly formed Coaching Association. See NEWSLETTER for Membership form. These have also been sent to Clubs, or can be obtained directly from me, lbant@ellingtonsg.co.uk. Please return the form to me as soon as possible. We go live with U13/12 centres this autumn for the Single System and are looking to recruit coaches. Anyone who is joining the association and looking for a CRB check– I will be at Kent Cup Final Day, 18 May, at Canterbury HC and will have paperwork to fill in forms. Please ring me 01843 836396 if you would like to complete your forms and I can confirm what documents you will need to bring with you on the day. Loraine Bant
SUMMER HOCKEY ACADEMY For the third year running GB internationals John Shaw and Soma Singh will be running a three-day summer academy at Sutton Valence School, organised by Totally Hockey with support from Sutton Valence HC. DISCIPLINARY CODE
As the new season has now got underway I feel
that it is an opportune time to remind Discipline Officers at
Clubs and Level 1 Umpires that if a Red Card is issued to a player
in your Club or if an Umpire issues a Red Card I must be advised a
soon as possible after the event.
Full details of the England Disciplinary Code and
the Red Card Report Form can be viewed or downloaded from the
England Hockey website on www.englandhockey.co.uk
They can be found under the download section and then by going into
the umpire section.
The Red Card Report Form will need to be
completed in all cases by the umpire who issues a Red Card
and it should then be e-mailed to me at alan@sargenta.freeserve.co.uk
I may also be contacted via that e-mail address
or by phone on 01322 293266 as it is usually beneficial for the
umpire and the Disciplinary Officer of the Club involved to contact
me so that I may talk through the implications of the
issue of the Red Card and ensure that the correct penalty is
imposed.
I should also be contacted if Clubs or Level 1
umpires have any concerns relating to incidents in matches that did
not result in the issue of a Red Card but were deemed to have
brought the game of Hockey into disrepute.
I am here to help Clubs and Umpires where there
may be disputes between Clubs and Umpires following incidents either
during matches or on the day of matches being played.
Let's hope that we all have an enjoyable season
and that all matches are played in the spirit they should be but in
the event of problems I am here to assist.
